Vanessa Maria Looss

The German mezzo-soprano Vanessa Maria Looss moves between musical worlds and can be experienced as a genre-crossing singer in opera, classical musical, as well as in passions and oratorios of sacred works.

Her repertoire spans from the Baroque era to contemporary music. Among the operatic roles she has sung on stage are Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Second Lady and Third Boy (The Magic Flute), La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi), and Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro). In the musical "My Fair Lady," she portrayed Eliza Doolittle and Betty Schaefer in Webber's "Sunset Boulevard." In the summer of 2026, she will make her debut as Maria Rainer in "The Sound of Music."

As an interpreter of sacred and secular works and her own programs, she performs internationally. Her solo career has taken her to Switzerland, Austria, Turkey, and Belgium, among other countries. She regularly collaborates with the award-winning CHAARTS - Chamber Artists, has sung at the Boswil Summer Festival and the Vorarlberg Music Theatre, creates musical-literary programs with actresses such as Katharina Thalbach, Susanne von Borsody, and Barbara Auer, and is a regular performer at the Staufer Festival.

Vanessa Maria Looss studied singing at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts under Natalie Karl, earning her Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

She received further important inspiration through collaborations with, among others, KS Matthias Klink, KS Inge Borkh, KS Helene Schneiderman, Prof. Margreet Honig, and Lilli Paasikivi. In the field of musical theatre, she worked with Prof. Noelle Turner from the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen.
